LTP/Little Blackhawks
CUYHA offers two options for players new to the sport of hockey, Learn-To-Play and Little Blackhawks. Each offers 8 sessions of developmentally appropriate practices that focus on foundational skating and hockey skills to get your player comfortable being on the ice and in their hockey gear.
Option 1: Learn-to-Play
- Provides the opportunity for players to rent their gear for a reduced fee
- Less expensive for players that already own gear
Option 2: Little Blackhawks
- Partnership between CUYHA and the Chicago Blackhawks
- Brand-new head-to-toe equipment to keep
- Appearances by Chicago Blackhawks Alumni
- One (1) ticket to a Chicago Blackhawks home game in the 2023-2024 season
Ages
Little Blackhawks and Learn to Play are designed for players age 5-9 that have have completed 0-1 sessions of an introductory hockey program. No skating experience is necessary.
When
Fall sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 6p-7p with a target start date of October 15th.

**Registering now will get you on the list and in our system for the program. A link will be sent at a later date for payment. Bills will be sent based on equipment and program preference and must be paid prior to the first practice.**

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need to have skating experience?
No. Learn-To-Play and Little Blackhawks are designed to take a player from zero experience to entry level hockey skills.
What is the difference between House and Learn-To-Skate?
House is for 6-10 year old children who have the ability to control movement and can move autonomously on the ice. It is recommended that players complete 2 sessions of Learn-To-Play or Little Blackhawks before moving on to the House Program.
Can my child us their own equipment?
Yes, As long as the helmet has a valid sticker and the equipment is in good working order. All equipment should fit properly.
Why are there two different programs?
Having two programs allows us to make hockey accessible to as many families as possible by giving families multiple options for acquiring gear.
